Day 0 - Travel (ugghhh!!)

Well, after 20+ hours on planes, and 13 time zones later, we're finally here!! The trip was long, and we're glad we're finally sitting in a hotel room. No major problems with the planes....little delay in Detroit, but we ended up getting into Beijing right on time.

Of course, our 30 minute car ride from the Beijing airport to the hotel was quite exciting. As our adoption agent put it... 'laws are merely recommendations to drivers...' how true. Blinkers, speed limits, and lines on the street mean nothing here. Drivers here make those in NYC and Boston look like angels!! The nice thing, though, is that people don't honk out of anger...they honk just to say 'hey, I'm passing you on the right....don't kill me, please!'

Well, that's all for now. It's about 6:00 Saturday morning...neither of us slept very well last night, so we're just getting ready to head down to breakfast, then meet our group for a day of touring Beijing. Today is Tieneman Square and the Forbidden City, with and acrobat show this evening.
